The Advan Yokohama A3A layout is an extremely popular and well-known three-spoke wheel design. In fact, it's so popular that people often refer to similar three-spoke wheels from other manufacturers as A3As, and many people also refer to any three-spoke Advan wheel as an A3A. Interestingly, there are actually two different versions of the A3A, with the difference being the production date.

The A3 designation is shared with a number of other Advan wheels, but evidence suggests that the original A3 wheel was actually the A3A, which was produced as early as 1979. This original version of the A3A is distinguishable from later versions by the word "Racing" stamped underneath the Advan logo. The later A3A models, pictured above, have only "ADVAN" stamped on the wheel face and were produced until early 2000.
