The Tokyo Yakult Swallows, one of Japan's most beloved professional baseball teams, have a rich history in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Founded in 1950 as the Kokutetsu Swallows, the team was originally owned by the Japanese National Railways. After undergoing several ownership changes, the team was acquired by the Yakult Corporation in 1970 and renamed the Yakult Swallows. The team is based in Tokyo and plays its home games at Meiji Jingu Stadium, a historic ballpark known for its intimate atmosphere.
